Ploce is a town and the second largest cargo seaport in Croatia, located on the mouth of Neretva River, half way between Dubrovnik and Split. The town has developed on a very old natural route of the valley of the river Neretva that connects the neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Adriatic Sea, thus it is a very important port for Bosnia.
Apart from daily excursions to the fruitful Neretva river, the nearby Bacinska Lakes and Biokovo mountain, Ploce hosts a number of attractive events like Marathon of Ladja, a river race of traditional wooden boats from the town of Metkovic to Ploce that is held every summer.
