Dubrovnik Summer Festival Opening Weekend

Discover the artistic and cultural delights of the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival

For over seven decades, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival has been the beating cultural heart of the city known as the Pearl of the Adriatic.

Bringing together national and international artists across music, theatre, dance and film, the festival takes place over 45 days using Dubrovnik’s beautiful and historic Old Town and landscapes as backdrops for each magical performance.

Adding a performance at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival to a Croatian land tour program in July or August is a brilliant way to ensure an unforgettable experience of Dubrovnik for any traveler.

2022’s festival program marks a return to ‘normal’ for production with the famous opening ceremony returning to its home in front of the Church of St.Blaise on July 10th. Visitors to the Old Town that night can expect packed stone streets luminated by torches and an impressive firework display as the ceremony ends. It’s a date that’s marked in locals’ calendars; a night to see and be seen, and to welcome the summer to the city.

Across venues that include the island of Lokrum, Lovrijenac Fortress, Park Gradac, Bunic-Kaboga Summer Residence and Rector’s Palace, visitors are able to enjoy classical music concerts, opera, dramas, children’s theatre, exhibitions and ballet. This year’s program will see four-time Grammy nominated Cory Henry bring his R&B stylings to Dubrovnik, renowned soprano Nuria Rial will perform with Accademia del Piacere and Shakespeare’s Hamlet returns for its second year with Frano Maskovic in the lead role.
