Slavonia Tour Guide Training Program Kicks Off

Adriatic DMC's new tour guide training program launches in Slavonia with a three-day seminar

Adriatic DMC's tour guide training program in Eastern Croatia kicked off with a three-day seminar focusing on presentation skills and destination knowledge. The program is part of Adriatic DMC's investment in the region of Slavonia as it works to increase interest in this less well-known part of Croatia, and will see 12 new licensed tour guides trained to Adriatic DMC's high standards of professional service.

The first day of the program took place at Hotel Osijek where the new guides were introduced to Adriatic DMC's standards and guidelines before heading out 'into the field' on days two and three. Across two busy days, the guides visited historic towns, museums, wineries, farms, and galleries to ensure that they can provide expert knowledge of the region to all of our partners' guests.

Managing director, Srdjan Kristic said: “Following our selection process, we are confident that we have found people with a real passion for Slavonia and all that it has to offer to its visitors. We recognized Slavonia's untapped potential some time ago and want to share its beauty, culture and wonderful hospitality with more people.

Guides were given group and individual tasks to help them prepare for real-life situations and took it in turns to guide the group at each of their stops on their two-day field exercise.

“We consider our investment a long term one. Operating responsibly in tourism is something that drives all of our decisions which is why we have put so much energy into developing programs that include local communities, improve existing products, and also invest in people, providing opportunities for professional development so that the destination continues to grow and improve.“

After visits to Eltz Manor in Vukovar, Ilocki Podrumi, Dakovo State Stud Farm, Branjska Kuca and Josic Restaurant and Winery to name just a few, the guides are now ready to shadow experienced guides during the summer season.
